Deadbolt upgrade after a Hyde Park break-in

Should I rekey or replace my locks when I move into a new home?
Rekey unless the hardware is already damaged or too old to trust. Rekeying changes the internal pin configuration so previous keys stop working, costs $30 per lock with a 3-lock minimum, and takes about 25-35 minutes for a typical Austin home. Replacing the entire lock set costs significantly more and provides no security advantage if the hardware is Grade 1 and in good condition. The exception: if the existing locks are Grade 3 builder hardware, replacing with Grade 1 Schlage deadbolts is worth the extra cost.
What lock brands do you install in Austin?

What is a BHMA Grade 1 lock?
BHMA stands for Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association. Grade 1 is the highest residential security rating and means the deadbolt has passed 250 lb. kick-force resistance tests, 250,000 cycle durability tests, and pick and drill resistance testing. Grade 2 is adequate for interior doors and light-use exterior doors. Grade 3 is builder-grade hardware often found in new Austin tract homes and should be upgraded on any exterior entry point. WOW Locks installs Grade 1 hardware by default on exterior entry points.
